25 Jan Tonedale Play Area Ready For Visitors
Wellington Town Council are pleased to announce that the play area at Richards Close is now open and ready for use. The new equipment has a whimsical design and includes an activity trail, a wheelchair-accessible roundabout, and a brand-new toddler area which includes a slide, swings, a springer, and interactive play panels. The play area has equipment suitable for children of all ages and the Council looks forward to seeing families enjoying the area. Alongside the new equipment, a path has been installed at the lower entrance of the site to allow for better accessibility and safety for all.
This new play area has a much more inclusive and modern feel than the old equipment which dated back to the early 1980’s. In the interest of sustainability, the old equipment was removed and recycled at the beginning of the new play area’s construction. The Council hope that the new equipment will bring joy to local children for many years to come.
This project was funded by the Council’s balance of Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) monies and some funding from a Section 106 agreement from Somerset West & Taunton. Both CIL and Section 106 monies are provided by developers for the benefit of the Community in which they build houses.
