One of the Town Council’s great success stories recently has been the launch in the autumn of 2019 of its Pop Up Shop, located at 31 Fore Street next to H T Perry & Son & Granddaughter, the ironmongers.
Who can rent the Pop-Up Shop?
The Pop-Up Shop is intended to give entrepreneurs an opportunity to try out their business ideas in a real life high street scenario with real customers. Businesses ranging from dog treats to oil paintings have occupied the shop since its inception.
The shop is also regularly hired by charities and community groups to raise money and awareness. Wellington Town Council will give not-for-profit organisations a week in the Pop-Up Shop for free once per year. As per the handbook, this will be done once a month or up to 12 times per year. “Free” bookings for the shop need only pay a £100 deposit which will be refunded minus the cost of electricity used during their day.
