26 Feb Now Recruiting: Open Spaces Manager
These are exciting times to be joining Wellington Town Council as we prepare for the biggest change in what we do for 50 years.
We are looking for someone to join our growing team to develop and manage our green spaces strategy. We currently manage around 64 acres of open land known as the Green Corridor and a couple of play areas and in 2025/6 we will be taking on responsibility for all the green spaces in the town currently managed by Somerset Council. This will include our Grade II listed award-winning Wellington Park, playing fields, recreation grounds, nature reserves, a further seventeen play areas as well as town centre planting and maintenance. There will also be the opportunity to develop and deliver additional junior sports pitches, traded services to local parish councils and the management of grounds maintenance on new developments in the town. This is a great opportunity to start something from scratch.
We are looking for someone with a successful track record of developing and managing open spaces services to a high standard, who is community focussed and willing to get their hands dirty.
